CHEMICAL PEELS

Hey beauties and welcome back to my blog. Hope i find you well and healthy.

So today am going to be talking about chemical peels. Chemical peels are exfoliating agents that remove the top layer of the skin by means of visible and non visible peeling to counter skin problems such as acne, spots, wrinkles, sun burns, pigmentation and etc. These can be carried out at the spa ,by an Anestheist or at home.  They also come in different concentrates based on what you want.

TYPES OF CHEMICAL PEELS

ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS (AHAs)
Are naturally occurring carboxylic acids such as glycolic acid from sugar cane and lactic acid from sour milk and tomato juice. They are the most mild and can be used to treat problems like dryness, acne and pigmentation. AHAs can be mixed in lotions or facial washes in a lesser concentration for daily use. Examples of  fruit based AHAs include citric acid, glycolic acid, malic acid and tartaric acid.

BETA HYDROXY ACID PEELS
Are anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory so they work very well with acne. They control sebum excretion, acne and remove dead skin cells. An example of BHA is salicylic acid peel.

JESSNER'S PEEL
A combo of salicylic acid, lactic acid and resorcinol as created by Dr Mx Jessner a German-American dermatologist.

PHENOL-CROTON OIL PEEL
Active ingredient is croton oil and it causes caustic exfoliating to the skin.

TRICHLOROACETIC (TCA) PEEL
One of the most effective chemical peels that exfoliates and peels deep into the skin.
