GRACIOUS TONGUE

COLOSSIANS 4:16- "Let your speech always be gracious , seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person"
The bible tells us that once you find Christ and you are a born again you are now a new creation. (2Corinthians 5:17). That means that we are now mandated to get rid of the old and programme ourselves with Christ-like things. One of the things you can do as a Christian is have a GRACEFUL TONGUE. A tongue that doesn't speak ill of others but a tongue that only produces good and kind words.
I was one of those people who could really hand it to you if ever you crossed my path the wrong way. I would tell it to you straight without editing anything. Bottom line I HAD A FOUL MOUTH. Does that mean that i wasn't a christian? No i was but i was surely not acting like one. My level of prayer and Christian practice were not strong enough.
Avoiding certain situations and avoiding a verbal brawl shows your dignity and respect for others and also shows how much of a Christian you are. You may not realise, this but words are very powerful and can hurt a person for a lifetime. What we choose to tell other people has a great impact on them hence it is wise to be meek and kind always. Imagine all that you can avoid by keeping your mouth shut.
PROVERBS 18:6-8 "A fool's lips walk into a fight, and his mouth invites a beating. 7-A fool's mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul. 8-The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body."
Even the bible knows the dangers of having a foul mouth and how much trouble it invites.
PROVERBS 17:27 "Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding"
EPHESIANS 4:29 "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouth, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear it."
God made women meek for a reason. He gave us the power and role to be mothers, sisters, daughters to everyone. To always take care of our own and others around us. As such our tongues are weapons. It is up to us to choose whether to use them for better or for worse.
PROVERBS 31:26 "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue."
It is not easy to make a change but with prayer and guidance from the Holy Spirit it can be done.
Let us pray:-
Heavenly Father we thank you for everything and we ask you to forgive us for the sins we do knowing and not knowing. Help us to always have a gracious tongue. A tongue that speaks the positive and not the negative, a tongue that is kind towards others so that we may walk in your path. We thank you for these and other teachings that continue to guide us. In Jesus' name AMEN.
