HOW TO GET RID OF SMELLY ARMPITS

Hey  and welcome back to my blog. Thank you so much for the feedback. I appreciate it a lot.

Having sweaty and smelly armpits is very embarrassing. You know so well that people will talk about you after you leave and they probably have a nickname to spice things up. Smelly Melly, Odourful Odette, CoverYourNose Cathy - that alone can crash your spirit and ruin your self confidence. Sometimes it is totally unrelated to the way you bath, you may even bath 10 times a day but the odour will still be there.

Sweat itself is odourless but bacteria use perspiration to multiply and break down the keratin, a type of protein present on the surface of the skin which cause your underarms to smell. However that can be sorted out and you can gain your confidence back in no time.

These are some of the practices you can indulge in to fight sweaty and smelly armpits:-

  • SHAVING
Getting rid of hair under your arms goes a long way in achieving an odourless armpit. When hair follicles are present under your arms, you tend to sweat more and bacteria has an opportunity to build  up causing your under arms to smell. Shaving, waxing or removing armpit hair will not give bacteria a play ground to manifest.

  • EXFOLIATING
Exfoliating your armpits can remove dead skin cells that also aid in bacteria build up. You can exfoliate using a loofah, exfoliating gloves or a home made gentle scrub.

  • GOOD HYGIENE
Good hygiene should be a lifestyle. Shower or bath twice a day preferably with cold water as it closes skin pores  more than hot water.  Also DO NOT RE-WEAR CLOTHES WITHOUT WASHING THEM.

  • WEAR COTTON CLOTHES
They have more filtration aiding to air circulation.

  • APPLY BABY POWDER
to cover up pores

  • APPLY ANTI-PERSPIRANT
to reduce the levels of perspiration (sweating)

  • TOPICAL APPLICATION OF ALUMINIUM CHLORIDE
  • REDUCE CAFFEINE AND CONSUME MORE HERBAL AND GREEN TEA
  • EAT MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
  • DRINK WATER
At least 2 to 3 litres a day to avoid dehydration. When you are dehydrated you sweat more than usual.
  • HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
Hydrogen peroxide kills odour causing bacteria. Mix 1 tablespoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide with 200mls of water and wipe your armpits twice a day after bath.

  • APPLE CIDER VINEGAR
Apply ACV twice a day after bath.

  • IODINE
Also helps to reduce bacteria build up. Apply iodine under arms for 5 minutes and wash off. Iodised salt works the same.

  • BAKING SODA
  • Applying baking soda on its own can help but you can also mix it with lavender or orange oil to make a paste and apply on your armpits then wash off. You can also mix it with lemon juice to do the same. The latter will also help with exfoliation and also lighten your armpits if ever they were darker.
  • WITCH HAZEL/TEA TREE OIL
Apply either  4-5 times a day to get rid of odour. Both lowers the pH of the skin making it hard for bacteria to survive.

  • ROSE WATER
Applying rose water will also go a long way to get rid of this problem.

  • SANDALWOOD POWDER
mixed with white vinegar helps too.

  • COCONUT OIL
Applying coconut oil especially after shaving or waxing will get rid of the subject at hand.

  • SUPPLEMENTING
Supplementing on vitamin B complex, zinc and magnesium will also help the problem from the inside, which is more effective.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
